LADY COMETS HARRIERS RUN FOR A PERFECT SCORE IN MIC XC MEET

RUSSIAVILLE, Ind. - PERFECTION! The Eastern Lady Comets became the first team in conference history to score a perfect 15 points in the annual Mid-Indiana Conference meet held at Oakbrook Family Park outside of Kokomo. Eastern had the top five runners in the conference to score the rare major-meet perfect cross country score. This is the fourth consecutive conference title for the sixth-ranked Comet harriers.

Senior Bethany Neeley (the defending IHSAA 1,600 meter state champion) lead the girls with the conference’s fastest time at 18:43. Twin sister Brittany followed in second (19:49), Carly Jones was third (19:58), Avery Ewing was fourth (20:02) and Sarah Wagner was fifth (20:11) to round out the perfect score. Other runners for the Lady Comets included Jessie Sprinkles in 11th and Breann Donson in 35th. Bethany Neeley’s victory was her fifth individual MIC title in running events.
