KOKOMO, Ind. – Kokomo High School senior D.J. Balentine was named to the 2012 Indiana All-Star boys basketball team and will compete in the annual two-game series against the Kentucky All-Stars. Balentine joins Indiana Mr. Basketball Gary Harris on the prestigious squad (for the complete list of Indiana all-stars, visit the Sports Journal website).

Balentine, a University of Evansville recruit, leaves Kokomo as the third leading scorer in school history with 1,280 career points. Only 1962 Indiana All-Star Jim “Goose” Ligon (1,900) and 1959 Mr. Basketball Jimmy Rayl (1,632) top Balentine in Wildkat points.

After leading the Kats to the Class 4A state championship game as a junior, Balentine led the Kats this past season to a Sweet Sixteen appearance before being eliminated by Carmel, who went on to win the state title. Balentine averaged 18.2 points and four rebounds per game as a senior. He also dished 63 assists and grabbed 38 steals.

The Kentucky game will be played in Louisville on June 8 and the Indiana game will be in Indianapolis on June 9.
